⚖️ Polygyny: rulings & justice · #112

Should gifts and presents to each wife be equal in value?

Being fair in outward giving includes gifts; leaning towards giving to only one wounds and creates a sense of unfairness. Each item need not be identical, but their value should be balanced so that no wife feels sidelined. If you give one something special because of a particular need, consider giving the other something equivalent. Intend gifts as love, not as a tool to win one over after wronging her. Keep a brief record so that you yourself can see the balance. Fair gifts ease jealousy and nurture affection in a large family. See fiqh of polygyny.
