Q&A › Existing wife & prospective wife

🤝 Existing wife & prospective wife · #97

My jealousy comes from having been betrayed in a past relationship. How do I keep it from damaging my current marriage?

An old wound that has not healed often accuses a new partner of sins he or she never committed. Recognise that your jealousy may partly be old fear resurfacing, not a real sign from your current spouse. Share this history with your spouse so they understand, not to use it as a reason to control them. Ask for reasonable support and reassurance when the unease comes. Train yourself to tell the difference between fear and the reality in front of you. If the wound is still deep and disturbing, see a counsellor to heal it. Your current spouse deserves to be judged on their own merits. See counselling.
