Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #122

My parents have passed away. What can I still do for them?

Devotion to parents does not end with their death; several doors of good deeds are still open to you. Pray continually for their forgiveness and mercy, because the supplication of a righteous child reaches them. Give charity in their name and carry out ongoing charity (amal jariah) such as contributing to projects of lasting benefit. Settle the debts and trusts they left behind, and carry out any permissible bequest (wasiat). Keep ties with their relatives and friends, and honour those they loved. Be a righteous child, because your own character becomes ongoing charity for them. See preparing for death.
