Because of snoring or caring for a baby, a husband and wife sleep in separate rooms. Is that wrong?
It is not wrong if there is a reasonable cause and both agree, as long as the rights of intimacy, affection and communication are still upheld.
No text requires spouses to share a room every night; what is required is living together in kindness (an-Nisa' 4:19) and fulfilling each other's rights. Separating beds as a sanction (hajr) is mentioned only in the context of nusyuz and has its limits (an-Nisa' 4:34), so it is different from a practical arrangement because of snoring, shift work or a baby. Very loud snoring can be a sign of sleep apnoea that needs treatment. Make sure there is regular time together, including before sleep, so separate rooms do not turn into emotional distance. If one of you starts to feel rejected, talk about it at once. See Etiquette between spouses.
