As a second wife, how far should I correct and discipline my stepchildren?
In the early stages, let the father take the main role in discipline while you build the relationship and trust first. Correction from someone not yet trusted easily breeds resentment, not change. You can still set basic house rules gently, such as bedtimes or table manners, but leave major punishments to your husband. Discuss with your husband so the two of you agree on the rules and how to apply them, so the children are not confused or think you are their enemy. Allah reminds us: “Had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you” (Surah Ali 'Imran 3:159). Put love before firmness. See educating the family.
