I have missed my hometown and family terribly since moving away. How do I ease it?

Missing your family and homeland is natural, and admitting it is healthier than pretending to be strong. Keep regular contact with your family through calls, and mark a date for going home so that there is something to look forward to. Build a meaningful life in the new place: get to know the community, find friends and join mosque activities. Bring your heart to life with worship, for “Remember that in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Surah ar-Ra'd 13:28). Bring a little of your hometown into your home, such as its cooking and good traditions. If homesickness turns into depression, get professional help. See mental health.
