⚖️ Polygyny: rulings & justice · #77
Can a husband take all his wives on holiday together, and how is the rota counted then?
A holiday with all the wives together is permitted if all are willing, and then justice is kept in how each is treated, not by separating the nights. When everyone is together on one holiday, the husband strives to be fair in attention, spending and time for each of them. Make sure no wife feels sidelined or that one is clearly favoured. If being together makes justice difficult, taking them in turns may be better. Plan together so everyone understands the arrangements before it begins. Remember the Prophet's ﷺ warning: “Whoever has two wives and inclines towards one of them, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side of his body leaning” (Sunan Abu Dawud 2133). For complicated matters, refer to the religious office. See rotation.
