Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #89

My spouse depends on me too much for everything. Is this healthy?

Depending on each other is good, but total dependence can wear you out and weaken your spouse. Encourage your spouse to build skills and confidence little by little, for example handling one bill or one school matter for the children. Praise every effort, even if the result is not yet perfect. Divide responsibilities clearly so the load does not fall on one person alone. If the dependence comes from serious anxiety or old trauma, encourage them to see a counsellor. See communication and emotions.
