Can we keep using the deceased's ATM card to pay for the funeral and household bills?
As soon as someone dies, the money in his account becomes the right of all the heirs, so withdrawing it without their consent is not appropriate. Many families do this with good intentions, but it can lead to accusations later, especially in polygynous families or families who are not close. It may also breach the bank's terms. Funeral costs do come first out of the deceased's estate, but do it openly. Inform the bank of the death. If anyone has already withdrawn money, record every ringgit and keep the receipts, then share that record with all the heirs. An heir who paid with his own money can claim it back from the estate with proof. See the order of settling the deceased's affairs.
