Q&A › Rights & responsibilities

🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #337

Our trials have gone on for a long time and I feel myself getting weaker. How do I stay sane?

Long trials drain your energy, so look after yourself little by little rather than waiting for them to end first. Allah says about those who are tested: “And give glad tidings to those who are patient” (Surah al-Baqarah 2:155), and patience includes making the effort to look after yourself. Break big problems into small steps you can manage today. Keep one stabilising routine: prayer, sleep and one refreshing activity. Share the burden with your spouse and people you trust. Get professional help if you start to feel you are drowning. Allah's mercy is never far, however long the trial feels. See trials in a marriage.
