Some say certain months or days are bad for getting married. Is that true?
There is no unlucky month or day for marriage in Islam; beliefs about ill-omened dates have no basis in the texts.
ʿAisha r.a. said the Prophet ﷺ married her in Shawwal and consummated the marriage in Shawwal, and she liked women to be married in Shawwal — because the people of the pre-Islamic era regarded Shawwal as unlucky (Sahih Muslim, Kitab an-Nikah). The Prophet ﷺ also rejected belief in evil omens (tiyarah) (Sahih al-Bukhari 5776). Choose a date on practical grounds: family holidays, financial readiness, the venue and the religious office's schedule. The only time-related prohibitions are concluding the contract while in ihram, and marrying a woman during her ʿiddah. Friday or particular months carry no special merit that must be pursued.
