How do we arrange a visiting schedule so our child is not stressed going back and forth between two homes?

Children are calmest when their visiting schedule is fixed, clear and predictable, not changing with the adults' quarrels. Agree on a reasonable schedule with your ex-spouse, taking into account school, rest and the child's needs, not just each parent's rights. Tell your child the schedule early so they know what will happen. Drop off and pick up on time to build a sense of security. Keep their basic needs such as clothes and school things at both homes so they do not feel like a guest. For a binding arrangement, the Syariah Court can set visiting rights fairly. See custody (hadhanah) & lineage (nasab).
