Q&A › Existing wife & prospective wife

🤝 Existing wife & prospective wife · #99

The jealousy between me and my co-wife is often stirred up by outsiders who love to carry tales. What should I do?

Guard your heart from the poison of people who like to carry stories between wives, because they do damage without bearing the consequences. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The talebearer will not enter Paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6056). When a story reaches you that inflames jealousy, first check whether it is true; do not believe it straight away. Cut down your conversations with those who like to compare and incite. If there is a real issue between you and your co-wife, settle it directly and kindly or through your husband, not through a third party. Pray for peace for yourself and your household. A heart guarded from incitement finds it easier to make peace. See co-wife relations.
