Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #253

I am more religiously committed than my spouse. How do we keep harmony?

Draw your spouse in with example and gentleness, not with criticism that pushes them away. Allah says: “Had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you” (Surah Ali 'Imran 3:159). Show the beauty of the religion through your own character, not constant lectures. Invite them gently to worship together, without forcing or looking down on them. Pray for their guidance and be patient with the process. Meanwhile, appreciate the other good qualities they have. A change of heart takes time and Allah's mercy, not pressure. See communication & emotions.
