Should I stay on good terms with my ex-spouse's family after the divorce, for the children's sake?

Keeping a courteous relationship with your ex-spouse's family gives your children more adults who love them, which is a blessing. Grandparents, uncles and aunts are part of a child's identity, and that bond should not be cut because of divorce unless there is danger. You do not need to be as close as before; it is enough to be polite and cooperate on matters concerning the children. Avoid dragging them into disputes between the two of you. Let the children spend time with their grandparents on both sides. Keeping family ties for the children's sake is a lasting good. If there is tension, set calm and respectful boundaries. See in-laws.
