Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #128

I am a single father raising a teenage daughter on my own. How do I guide her about bodily changes and boundaries?

A father's love and attention mean a great deal, and for specifically female matters, a trusted woman can complete your guidance. Involve a righteous grandmother, aunt or female teacher to explain periods and the body more comfortably. Your job is to be the place where she feels safe: listen without snapping, and value her as a daughter who is growing up. Protect her dignity and boundaries gently, not with harsh control. Provide her personal needs without making them a joke. If you are stuck, a family counsellor or an officer at the religious office can help. See also educating the family.
