The wife has died: what share of her estate does the husband get?

The husband receives 1/2 of his wife's estate if she leaves no children (or grandchildren through a son), and 1/4 if there are children, including the wife's children from a previous marriage. The wife's estate includes savings, gold, land and her share of jointly acquired matrimonial property (harta sepencarian). Before distribution, the wife's debts and her bequest (if any) are settled first. In polygyny, only the deceased wife's estate is inherited; co-wives do not inherit from each other, as there is no inheritance relationship between them. The deceased wife's children are the main heirs of the remainder. See faraid.
