🕌 Worship in the home · #84

How do we keep up prayer while on holiday with the family?

Plan the journey around prayer times so that worship is kept up even while having fun. Plan stops at mosques or surau according to the prayer times, and bring a prayer mat and something to find the qiblah direction. Learn how to combine (jamak) and shorten (qasar) prayers, the concessions for travellers, so that no prayer is missed on the road. Teach the children that prayer never takes a holiday even when we are travelling; this teaches them a lifelong priority. For the conditions of distance and duration that allow shortening, consult the religious office or a recognised reference. With a little planning, holidays and worship go hand in hand. See prayer guide.
