Our child has a disability (OKU) and will always depend on others. How do we plan our estate for him?
Start planning now, because the child's faraid share may not be enough, and he may not be able to manage it himself. A child with a disability inherits like any other child, but he needs a trustworthy person to manage his share. While you are healthy, you can give him additional property as a gift (hibah) through a trust arrangement, with a clearly appointed guardian and trustee. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Be conscious of Allah and act justly among your children” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2587). Many scholars hold that giving more because of special needs does not conflict with that justice. Discuss it with your other children so they understand, and get advice from a trust company familiar with the needs of people with disabilities. See children.
