Q&A › Existing wife & prospective wife

🤝 Existing wife & prospective wife · #106

How do I know whether I have truly accepted this with contentment (reda) or am only bottling up my feelings?

True contentment brings a peace that grows slowly, while bottling up only stores a wound that will burst out later. Contentment does not mean you never hurt; it means you accept Allah's decree while still protecting your rights and voicing your needs kindly. Bottling up, on the other hand, means swallowing every feeling and pretending to be fine, until it comes out as sarcasm, physical illness or suppressed anger. Ask yourself: am I at peace, or am I just silent out of fear? Pour out your feelings to Allah and to someone you trust. Contentment comes with time, prayer and honesty, not by forcing yourself to smile. See mental health.
