📜 Akad nikah · #105

As a bride-to-be, how is my consent confirmed before the contract?

Your consent is checked during the application and before the contract, and you have the right to state it yourself without pressure. During the application process, you usually sign a form stating your willingness to marry. Before the contract, the marriage officer or officiant usually confirms it once more. Use that moment honestly. If you are being forced or still have doubts, tell the marriage officer; he is there to make sure the contract is done properly. If you are willing, say so clearly so there is no doubt later. Also understand who your wali is and whether he will pronounce the offer himself or appoint someone. See a young woman's consent.
