Q&A › Existing wife & prospective wife

🤝 Existing wife & prospective wife · #25

The children are angry that their father has married another. What should I do?

Acknowledge the children's feelings, do not stir them up, and encourage their father to take responsibility for talking with them himself. Children, especially teenagers, may feel betrayed or worry about losing their father's attention. A mother should not fan their anger, even though she herself is hurt; teach them to respect their father while allowing them to voice their feelings. The father needs to explain honestly, keep up his time with the children, and make sure their maintenance is not affected. If relations deteriorate, family counselling helps a great deal.
