May a marriage contract be held in a hospital, at a sick person's home, or in another unusual place?
Yes. The Shariah does not fix the place of the contract; what matters is that the pillars and conditions are met, and in Malaysia the contract is conducted by an authorised officiant with the religious office's permission.
Act 303 s.20 concerns the place of marriage, and state enactments usually allow contracts at a mosque, the religious office or another approved place. Contracts in hospital are often held when a parent or guardian is gravely ill and wishes to witness it, or when the bride or groom is ill but still of sound mind and able to say the acceptance. Inform the religious office early for permission and arrangements for the officiant, and make sure two qualified male witnesses attend. The event can be kept simple; the feast can be held later. If the bride or groom is unconscious or not of sound mind, the contract cannot take place. See the question on where to hold the contract.
