How do we celebrate our child's birthday or Hari Raya when the parents are divorced?

A child's special day should be a happy moment for him, not a tug-of-war between two sides. Plan early and agree who will be with him on the day, or how the time will be divided, so he is not pressured to choose. If you can both act maturely, having both parents there peacefully means a great deal to the child; if you cannot yet, divide the time without quarrelling. Do not compete over gifts to win his heart. Focus on his happiness, not on proving who is the better parent. Pray for your child on that day. Celebrate with an open heart; your child will remember that peace. See educating the family.
