One of our former spouses keeps disrupting our new marriage. How do we protect it?
A new marriage needs to be protected with clear boundaries, especially when a former spouse is causing disruption. Keep contact with the former spouse formal and limited to what is necessary, such as matters concerning shared children. Avoid personal conversations that reopen old ground. Husband and wife need to stand together and be open about any such contact so there are no secrets that breed suspicion. If the disruption is extreme, such as persistent harassment or slander, you can seek legal advice and protection from the Syariah Court or the authorities. Look after your spouse's heart by giving them priority and reassurance. See counselling.
