🧭 Preparation & choosing a spouse · #4

What are the qualities of a good husband-to-be according to Islam?

The most important quality in a husband-to-be is pleasing religion and character, together with the ability to bear the responsibility of maintenance and family leadership.
The Prophet ﷺ advised guardians: if there comes to you a man whose religion and character you are pleased with, then marry him; if you do not, there will be trial and great corruption. The husband is the leader (qawwam) who bears maintenance (an-Nisa' 4:34), so maturity, honesty, emotional stability, not being hot-tempered and willingness to work are very important. He also said the best of you are those who are best to their families. See also the husband's responsibilities and the criteria checklist.
