Q&A › Existing wife & prospective wife

🤝 Existing wife & prospective wife · #94

Is it right for a wife to also have ghirah (protective jealousy) and feel jealous over her husband?

Yes, ghirah does not belong to men alone; a wife may also rightly guard and feel jealous over her husband as long as it does not turn into control. Even the wives of the Prophet ﷺ felt jealousy, and he did not condemn it as a feeling. A wife's ghirah moves her to protect the relationship, to advise kindly when something is wrong, and to pray for the strength of the marriage. It becomes unhealthy when it turns into baseless accusations or restrictions. Express your feelings to your husband calmly, not through quarrelling. Make that jealousy a push to draw closer, not further apart. See communication & emotions.
