ʿIddah calculator
Work out when the ʿiddah is expected to end after talaq or the husband's death — in Gregorian and Hijri dates — according to the Shafi'i school, and see what it means for rujuk (reconciliation), ʿiddah maintenance, housing and remarriage.

What ʿiddah means in real life
Room for rujuk (reconciliation)
In a revocable talaq (rajʿi), the husband may take his wife back by declaration at any time during the ʿiddah without a new marriage contract (al-Baqarah 2:228). Once the ʿiddah ends, that opportunity closes — a new marriage contract is needed.
ʿIddah maintenance
A wife in a revocable talaq (rajʿi) is entitled to full maintenance; a pregnant wife is entitled until she gives birth (at-Talaq 65:6). Claims are made in the Syariah Court.
Staying in the home
The wife is not to be turned out of the home and does not leave it without need during the ʿiddah (at-Talaq 65:1). Work and essential errands are permitted.
Not marrying anyone else
She may not marry another man until the ʿiddah ends; a marriage contract made during the ʿiddah is void (al-Baqarah 2:235).
